RETRIEVEEE
Impact Methodology
Retrieveee provides indicative circularity impact estimates based on recycled polyester material conversion assumptions associated with selected apparel products.
This methodology outlines the current framework, assumptions and limitations used to calculate estimated recycled PET bottle equivalencies displayed throughout retrieveee.com.
1. Methodological scope
Retrieveee currently estimates impact using a material-based approximation model focused on recycled PET (rPET) input equivalencies associated with recycled polyester textile production.
The methodology does not currently quantify:
- Carbon emissions reductions
- Water consumption reductions
- Energy savings
- End-of-life circularity outcomes
- Microplastic release impacts
- Lifecycle assessment (LCA) results
2. Material conversion framework
Impact calculations are derived from estimated recycled polyester content integrated into selected garments and translated into approximate post-consumer PET bottle equivalencies.
The current framework assumes:
- Use of recycled polyester yarns derived from post-consumer PET waste streams
- Supplier-provided recycled content specifications
- Average PET bottle material weights commonly referenced within the textile and recycling industries
- Indicative textile conversion efficiencies
PET bottles are generally processed through:
- Collection and sorting
- Washing and decontamination
- Flake or pellet production
- Extrusion into recycled polyester filament
- Yarn spinning and textile manufacturing
3. Recycled polyester yarn standards
Retrieveee prioritizes garments utilizing recycled polyester yarns produced from post-consumer PET waste streams and supplied through manufacturers operating under internationally recognized recycled material frameworks.
Selected products may incorporate recycled polyester yarns aligned with the requirements of the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) or equivalent recycled material verification systems where available through suppliers.
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international voluntary product standard designed to:
- Verify recycled material content throughout the supply chain
- Support chain-of-custody transparency
- Establish criteria for social and environmental practices
- Restrict the use of potentially hazardous chemical inputs
- Promote more responsible textile processing practices
Recycled polyester yarns typically originate from post-consumer PET packaging waste which is mechanically processed into flakes, pellets and subsequently extruded into recycled textile filament yarns.
Depending on the supplier and product category, recycled content percentages, yarn construction methodologies and certification coverage may vary between garments.
Retrieveee continuously works with suppliers to improve traceability, recycled content consistency and material transparency across future collections.
4. Current product categories
Retrieveee currently works with selected recycled polyester apparel categories including:
- Performance T-shirts
- Corporate polos
- Softshell bodywarmers and vests
- Recycled polyester shirts
- Fleece jackets
5. Product-level estimation model
Retrieveee applies indicative bottle equivalency estimates per garment category based on supplier specifications, recycled polyester composition, garment construction and approximate material mass ranges.
| Product category | Estimated rPET bottle equivalent | Methodological basis |
|---|---|---|
| T-shirt | ~9 bottles | Lightweight recycled polyester performance construction, based on supplier composition data from selected sports T-shirt references. |
| Polo | ~11 bottles | Higher average textile density and structured knit composition, based on recycled polyester polo specifications. |
| Bodywarmer / vest | ~12 bottles | Multi-layer softshell or insulated recycled polyester construction with increased material volume. |
| Recycled polyester shirt | ~14 bottles | Woven recycled polyester structure with higher average garment surface area and material mass than lightweight T-shirts. |
| Fleece jacket | ~18 bottles | High-volume fleece or softshell construction with increased textile density and material usage. |
6. Product references currently used
Retrieveee currently references technical information associated with selected recycled polyester apparel collections, including:
- JC201 recycled polyester performance T-shirt
- CA0427 recycled polyester performance T-shirt
- HY465 recycled polyester polo
- RS902M recycled polyester softshell bodywarmer
- CES001 recycled polyester shirt
- RS907X recycled polyester fleece jacket
- Classic recycled softshell vest collections
Product specifications, recycled material composition, bottle equivalency references and technical sourcing information may evolve over time depending on product availability and production updates.
7. Calculation logic
The Retrieveee calculator currently applies the following simplified estimation structure:
Number of participants ×
Sum of selected garment bottle equivalencies
Where multiple garments are selected per participant, bottle equivalencies are aggregated cumulatively.
8. Long-term circularity direction
Retrieveee’s long-term ambition is to increasingly prioritize European production, European waste streams and regional collection models where commercially and operationally possible.
This includes the progressive development of:
- European collection and sorting routes
- European recycled textile and PET waste sourcing
- Regional textile production partnerships
- Improved material traceability
- Shorter logistics distances where feasible
The objective is to progressively contribute to a more regional and visible circular textile model aligned with European sustainability ambitions.
9. Technical limitations
Actual recycled PET bottle equivalencies may vary depending on:
- Garment sizing
- Fabric GSM variations
- Production tolerances
- Material blends
- Manufacturing waste ratios
- Supplier methodology updates
- Regional recycling stream differences
Calculations should therefore be interpreted as indicative approximations rather than precise material accounting outputs.
10. Responsible sustainability communication
Retrieveee believes sustainability communication should remain measurable, transparent and proportionate.
The company aims to avoid overstated environmental claims and continuously improve the traceability, consistency and methodological transparency of impact-related communication.
11. Future methodological development
Retrieveee may further refine methodologies over time through:
- Supplier traceability improvements
- Additional recycled material certifications
- Product-specific composition datasets
- Enhanced textile weight standardization
- Potential third-party validation frameworks

Frequently asked questions
What materials and certifications do Retrieveee garments use?
Retrieveee prioritizes garments made with recycled polyester, including products produced from post-consumer PET waste streams.
Selected garments may incorporate recycled polyester yarns aligned with internationally recognized recycled material frameworks such as the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), depending on supplier and product availability.
The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) supports recycled content verification, supply-chain traceability, responsible processing practices, chemical restrictions, and social and environmental criteria.
Product-specific material information can be provided during the quotation process.
How can plastic bottles become recycled polyester T-shirts?
Post-consumer PET bottles are collected, sorted, cleaned and processed into flakes or pellets.
These flakes or pellets are melted and extruded into recycled polyester fibres. The fibres are then spun into yarn, knitted or woven into fabric, dyed, cut and sewn into garments.
In simple terms: PET bottle waste can become recycled polyester yarn, and recycled polyester yarn can become performance apparel such as T-shirts, polos, shorts and bodywarmers.
Are Retrieveee garments made in Europe?
Retrieveee’s long-term ambition is to increasingly prioritize European collection, European waste streams and European production where commercially and operationally possible.
Today, availability depends on supplier networks, product category, certification coverage, minimum order quantities and production capacity.
The direction is clear: we want to keep improving traceability, shorten supply chains where possible and support a more regional circular textile model over time.
How is the estimated impact calculated?
Retrieveee estimates impact by multiplying the number of participants by the estimated recycled bottle equivalent of the selected garments.
For example: 50 participants wearing T-shirts with an estimated 9 bottles per T-shirt equals 450 estimated bottles repurposed into team apparel.
These figures are indicative estimates based on supplier product data and should not be treated as certified lifecycle assessment data.
Can garments be customized with our company logo?
Yes. Retrieveee supports company logos, event branding and team identity applications depending on the garment, quantity and design requirements.
The design and ordering process is handled with a real person, not an automated chatbot or difficult design tool.
What is the typical lead time?
Typical project lead times are approximately 2–3 weeks after final approval, depending on garment availability, quantities, customization and logistics.
